About Me

This "About Me" page was a difficult exercise as I am not very witty.  However, I am working on developing a sense of humor.  My students are not so sure I am succeeding.

For some odd reason, I work in the field of education, training and shaping future electronics technicians, most of whom find jobs that pay significantly more than I earn.  On one hand, I feel warm and fuzzy inside because of that - facilitating the success of others.  But on the other other hand, I wonder why I am not working in the field.  But then on the gripping hand, I remember that as an computer / electrical engineering technologist, I am in that strange space in-between an electrical engineer and an electronics technician and what I do better than troubleshoot is train others to troubleshoot and solve problems.

Speaking of the warm and fuzzy feeling, I am invested in the concept of open educational resources and my job requires that I create curriculum to that end. I hope to become more involved in "the movement" as I gain more experience.

On the personal side: I love Mel Brooks movies, British comedy, and my favorite Doctor is Patrick Troughton.  Jon Pertwee, William Hartnell, and Christopher Eccleston are also favorites.  My favorite authors are Charles Dickens and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Enjoy my blog and please, feel free to comment.  I know that I will stumble along the way and that what I feel are erudite posts may be laughable, but it is all part of my own path to learning.
